Matthew is probably one of the sweetest, kindest, little boys you will ever meet. However when his patience is gone it really shows. -SG

I also like the effect of having everything sepia with a touch of color in the image of Matthew opening presents...

One thing to watch for is centering everything. It is the mark of a snapshot. The rule of thirds is a good one to apply...draw two vertical lines that divide the screen into equal thirds, and two horizontal lines into equal thirds. The points where those lines cross is your point of interest, or where you want to have your most important impact point. Or you can leave more room leading out of the an image where a person is looking right or left, you want to leave more room to the side where they are looking...unless of course you are breaking the rules on purpose...but when you do that, it needs to be obvious that you are breaking the rules.

As far as Photoshop goes...any book by Scott Kelby about photoshop, is well worth the purchase price.
