So what happens on a quiet Saturday morning in Monmouth Oregon. Well a lot can happen. For instance this Saturday our kids started yelling at Dad to grab his camerae quick. As it turns our there were five hot air balloons floating by in the backyard. To our surprise one of them landed in the park behind our house.
It turns out that they balloons came down to Independence to take part in the Hops and Heritage Festival. The Pilot of the Balloon that landed behind our house loves to give rides to kids. He has been a pilot for 18 years when after taking his first balloon ride went nuts and became a pilot with his own balloon within a year and hasn't looked back. What a generous individuals he and his crew are to land in a community and give free rides to kids and adults who woulds like to have the experience of a life time.
Soon after landing a flock of people showed up to see what was going on. We ran into the Davis's and Ethan, Brock, Abigail and I took the first trip up for the day. They tethered the balloon to a truck with a long rope 300 to 400ft I would guess. It was so fun. they start the burner and before you know it whoosh you are way up in the air. I will never forget the experience and I am sure the kids won't either. --SG
