I recently mailed out some packages and my breath was taken away at the prices of shipping. They are a lot higher than last year. But okay, that is the price you pay when you mail out to three separate states.
Meanwhile tonight I was wondering why we have not received something Shaun ordered on Dec 7th. It was coming from California and last time we ordered it came pretty quick. So I did a little tracking and I found out the best route for USPS from California to Oregon is via Hawaii.
This is the info on their system:
Electronic Shipping Info Received, December 08, 2009
Processed through Sort Facility, December 10, 2009, 10:44 pm, SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94188
Processed through Sort Facility, December 12, 2009, 6:21 pm, HONOLULU, HI 96820
So now we all know why stamp prices keep going up. Each letter takes a personal tour of all 50 states before arriving at their destination. I guess UPS and Fedex offer the same tours, because there prices on shipping were within a dollar of one another.
